A Great Day for Americans; A Dangerous Day for America, Part 1
A Great Day for Americans; A Dangerous Day for America
Part 1
November 5, 2008
Part of me just wants to withdraw and decree, “Americans deserve what they get from an Obama administration,” but, instead, I’m compelled to point out the good things that will come from Obama’s victory.
- Most importantly, young children of every race and every social and economic status, can point to this election as proof that they CAN BE whatever they want and can accomplish anything they set their mind to.
- Obama’s victory represents a milestone for improved race relations within the US. We have truly come a long way and that's certainly something to celebrate!
- Improved foreign relations. No doubt, a regime change will have an impact on how America has perceived in some areas of the world. Though it is only temporary, let’s enjoy any benefits while we can.
- Conservatives will be forced to return to a narrowed focus of reform and fiscal responsibility. Conservatism’s (and likely, capitalism’s) future hinges on whether they can properly atone for their reckless abandon of the ethics and fiscal responsibility.
- America will more clearly understand the dangers that socialism poses. The sooner we, as a nation, understand and debate the virtues of capitalism and socialism, the better off we will be.
- Millions of new voters have become engaged. Across this great country, more people are getting involved and taking an interest in the direction of their country. Many of them don’t yet understand the true differences in governing philosophies of the major parties, but if they stay engaged, they can learn as they go.
Today, let’s celebrate the benefits to our great country from this historic election!
My next post will be about the dangers we should all be watchful of.
