consumers should learn how to manage their finances well to avoid debt problems. They have to be more responsible in paying off their bills like credit cards, mortgage, loans, etc. it is important that they prioritize things they need not wants because it just worsen the economic crisis because lots of people are sinking with debts.

Oil and gas accounts for 25% of Alaska's GDP and, as you said, 84% of it's taxes collected.

Oddly, oil production has gone down instead of up. Alaska now produces less than 50% of what they once produced.

Jack, Good point.

It is important to realize that he hasn't always shown moral fiber. It's also important that appreciation for his heroism does NOT turn into hero-worship!

A couple months ago, I concluded that America had already lost this election - that there weren't any good candidates left. I still feel that way to some extent, but I am encouraged by Palin's addition to the ticket and the turn of focus toward principled leadership.

I think McCain has been wrong on several issues but I also have an appreciation for his principled stances even when I didn't agree with him.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.

How much of Alaska's GDP comes from oil and gas? I know that 84% of the taxes collected in AK come from that segment.
